International Beccalaureate

Alright, before I continue, I want to make some things clear. I’m writing this post for my friends back home, who most of them have no clue on what the fudge is International Beccalaureate (IB). Yes, for em cat people back home, not the KMSians that already know what is IB, so don’t go ranting about you all already know what is IB…

Ah…. International Baccalaureate… Guess what? I still can’t spell it confidently but pronunciation isn’t a problem no more (That’s if, Tracy’s pronunciation is right). the first time I saw the word, I was like “what the heck? International Ba-cuuu-la-lu-rete???? WTF is that???” And that is the main reason why I’m posting this up. So none of you would would have me explain what is IB again and again…

I usually go, IB is…. Something Like A levels, only a little harder…

Yeah, A levels, what my sister did at her super expensive college, unlike me… But what to do?  I didn’t know that there isn’t a logo for it unlike IB…. So this picture would just have to do.

IB is something like A Levels, I used to say that because that’s what we were told and that my school also offers A Levels. But to say that IB is something like A Levels isn’t all that accurate.

So FALSE!!!!!!

We really do have to define “a little” here because from what we’re briefed on, I can say that the next two years of my life would be so very, very, very packed.

What is IB? IB is What I’m taking at KMS. IB stands for International Baccalaurete. Yes, I know that you know at this point, I’m just practisiong my spelling. lolll Anyways, In IB, we take 6 subjects (yes, 6 freakin subjects!!!!) unlike A Levels (3-4 subjects). These 6 subjects are under six different categories which are G1-Language A1, G2-Second Language, G3-Individuals and Society, G4- Experimental Science, G5-Mathematics and Computer Science and last but not least, G6-The Arts.

Group 1
Apparently G1 is native language. Yes, NATIVE language. And this means I will be taking the dreaded BM subject once more…. NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! Well, at least it isn’t my actual native language-Bidayuh, which I have yet to understand… Muh mamuh? besek… maan sengkoi… just saying….

Group 2
Second language offered here is English. YAYYYY!!!! At least I do well in this subject. I was assigned Standard Level English. I’m currently in the process of upgrading my Standard Level English to Higher Level English. Do wish me luck…. :p

Group 3
It’s a choice between Business management, Economics or Information Technology for Global Society (ITGS) here at KMS. Most opt for Econs but I took Business instead. The least favored on is, but of course, ITGS. Why? Because it’s apparently very hard to score (alleged highest score is 4 according to unnamed sources) and that there’s no textbooks- student’s do research online which I find dangerous because of Facebook…

Group 4
Experimental Science. It’s a choice between Biology and Physics. I suppose it’s obvious that I took Physics due the fact that I hated anything that had to do with Biology. I mean, Why the Fudge do we need to know how plants have sex and all??? I find no reason why we do, mainly because my line of career wouldn’t involve medicine…:p Sorry Folks, felix no likie become doctor… Physics on the other hand, ROCKSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!! And BTW, there’s only 2 guys in my physics class…. = =”"”

Group5
We were offered Maths and maths only. So I guess Maths would do. Got assigned to Higher Level Maths though. And since I’m trying to upgrade my English, my maths would be downgraded  to Standard Level Maths. Which I do prefer.

Group 6
The arts… More like the art of menipu… Dang… We’re not offered this group over here. Instead we’re given another G4 subject- Chemistry. Would have loved to do photography IF it was offered, but unfortunately, no…. T.T

On top of that 6 subjects we still do need to do 3 more stuffs- Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Extended Essay (EE)and CAS(creativity, action, service). Still think A levels is hard?

Theory Of Knowledge
Still not entirely sure about what this subject is, but I have a rough Idea. It’s like a study of Knowledge (I think). We question deep shit things like questions within questions within questions… Question inception much??? I don’t really know what is really is yet, but that’s my first impression on TOK.

Extended Essay
Well, this is a mini thesis that we have to do. We can choose ANY subject we want to write about and it does not have to be related to our 6 subjects. We’re given a year plus to complete that 4000 word essay. Kiam Pak >.<!!!

Creativity, Action, Service
CAS for short is something like Khidmat Komuniti for those that have gone through national service. It’s some sort of community service thingy or something like that. We all have to do at least 150 CAS hours within our 4 sem period. That’s a lot, but it’s not too bad. There’s the anual international CAS project between KMS and Kolej Mara Banting where students go overseas (so far it’s Cambodia for the past 3 years) help people there. It is, however, self financed, at least the trip to and fro there…

Yes people, I’m doing IB. Tough luck.
At least it’ll shape me (not physically) into an all-rounder, which by the way is it’s aim. Do forgive me if I don’t posts as much in the future- I’m going to be a super busy guy. Yet I still would make time to contact my loved ones at home.

Gone out with some of my friends for bowling:D And out of the thousands that I invited, 3 young girls showed up>:D

So it was me, Teri, Karen and Ai Ling that went Bowling… *yay*

Karen aka Pink Bong, out of the blue, made a shocking statement infront of me and Ai Ling while we were waiting for Teri to come… She told me that I am beautuful… I was like, what the heck???? Both me and Ai Ling laughed…..

After bowling, we played some pool and karen ordered pizza!
